What is an example of mutualism according to the text?
Notes
The 7 Main Ecological Relationships 1. Mutualism Both organisms benefit from the relationship. Example: bees get nectar, flowers get pollinated. ⸻ 2. Commensalism One organism benefits, and the other is not helped or harmed. Example: barnacles sticking to whales. ⸻ 3. Parasitism One organism benefits (the parasite), while the other is harmed. Example: ticks on animals. ⸻ 4. Predation One organism (predator) kills and eats another (prey). Example: lion and zebra. ⸻ 5. Competition Two organisms fight for the same resources, like food, space, or mates. Example: two trees competing for sunlight. 1. Organism A single living thing. Example: one frog. ⸻ 2. Population A group of organisms of the same species living in the same place. Example: all the frogs in one pond. ⸻ 3. Community All the different populations living together in one area. Example: frogs, fish, insects, plants, and birds in the pond. ⸻ 4. Ecosystem A community plus the non-living (abiotic) things like water, sunlight, and soil. Example: the whole pond system — animals, plants, water, rocks, sunlight.
