BONES & JOINTS The Human Skeleton is divided into two major parts: the axial skeleton and the appendicular skeleton. -The axial skeleton forms the central axis of the body. It includes the skull, vertebral column, ribs, and sternum. Its primary func?on is protec1on of vital organs such as the brain, heart, and lungs, and to provide structural support for the body. -The appendicular skeleton includes all the bones of the limbs (arms and legs), as well as the shoulder girdle and pelvis. This part of the skeleton is mainly responsible for movement, allowing us to walk, run, liC objects, and carry out daily tasks.
