What does Tidal Volume (TV) represent in respiratory terms?
Notes
Tidal volume (TV) = amount of air delivered to the lungs with each breath Fio2 (fraction of inspired oxygen) = percentage of oxygen delivered to the patient PEEP (positive end expiratory pressure) = pressure in the lungs at the end of the expiration PIP (peak inspiratory pressure) = maximum pressure applied during inspiration Inspiratory: expiratory ratio(I:e ratio) = ratio of the time spent in inspiration to expiration Trigger sensitivity = sensitivity of the ventilator to detect patient effort NIPPV = non invasive positive pressure ventilation NIV = non invasive ventilation Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) = splits the airways open, increasing pressure within the airway BiPAP (Bilevel positive airway pressure) = cycles between two levels of pressure providing continuous positive airway pressure IPAP = inspiratory positive airway pressure EPAP = expiratory positive airway pressure MAP (mean arterial pressure) = average pressure in your arteries during one heartbeat cycle Preload: how much blood fills the heart before it pumps (the stretch of the heart before it squeezes) After load: the pressure the heart has to push against to pump blood out ...
