Weaknesses of Observational Methods & Ethical Concerns ### Weaknesses: - Observer bias – researcher’s expectations may influence what they record. - Lack of control – difficult to control variables, so cause-and-effect cannot be established. ### Ethical Concerns: - Privacy – observing people without consent can invade personal space. - Informed consent – participants should know they are being observed (unless justified). - Deception – must be minimized and justified. ## 2. Qualitative vs Quantitative Research ### Qualitative Research: - Focuses on meanings and experiences - Data is non-numerical - Example: Interviews about how people feel after therapy ### Quantitative Research: - Focuses on measurable data - Data is numerical - Example: Survey measuring stress levels using a scale (1–10) ## 3.
