Chapter 3: Being a Responsible Leader - Critically Examining Ideas "The only thing we can't do is nothing." - Simon Sinek ln the last chapter we focused on critically examining ourselves, this chapter will bridge that work into critically examining ideas. In academia, frameworks, theories and models are created and sent into the world with the blessings of our peers, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the ideas being presented are going to be true or helpful for everyone. This book will ask you to critically examine these from your own unique perspective. Does it make sense to you? Why or why not? Do you think it might be helpful in your field of interest? Why or why not? Are there parts of a theory, framework or model that might be helpful that you can add to or subtract from? This work centers you as the knower based on your own background, experiences and identities. But it also asks you to consider the perspectives of others. Does this resonate with them?
