•Information Systems (IS) Defined as interconnected components that collect, process, store, and distribute information to support decision-making, coordination, and control. They assist managers and employees in analyzing problems, visualizing complex situations, and fostering innovation. •Information Technology (IT) A term introduced in the 1980s to replace “Data Processing” and “Informatics.” It encompasses computers, telecommunications, multimedia, access tools, and organizational and human aspects. Today, it has expanded into ICT (Information and Communication Technology) to highlight connectivity and communication. •Organizational Goals Supported by IT Operational excellence Innovation in products, services, and models Customer and supplier relationship management Better decision-making Competitive advantage Business continuity and survival
