Topic 3-6 study guide Terms -Sustainability: Meeting the needs of today without compromising the needs of the future. Contains three pillars: • Environmental - the ability to keep Earth’s natural resources in balance so that they are consumed at a rate which they can be replenished • Economic - the ability of humans across the planet to secure sources of livelihood (employment) and have access to financial resources they require. • Social - that universal human rights and basic necessities are attainable by all people, that all people can live in communities of health and dignity. -Prosperity: The flourishing, thriving, good fortune and successful social status.
