• Prepositions and Conjunctions A preposition is used before a noun or pronoun to show place, time, or direction in a sentence. **EXAMPLE:** at, in, on, about, to, from. Conjunctions join words or groups of words in a sentence. **EXAMPLE:** and, because, yet, therefore, moreover, since, or, so, until, but. • Pronouns and Interjections Pronouns replace the name of a person, place, thing, or idea in a sentence. **EXAMPLE:** she, it, we, they, her, this, that. Interjections express strong emotions and are often followed by an exclamation point! **EXAMPLES:** ¡Bravo! ¡Aha! ¡Yeah! ¡Well! ¡Hooray! ¡Oops! ¡Phew! --- • Parts of Speech: Classification One way to classify words is by dividing them into categories such as verbs, adjectives, etc. **Noun:** A noun names a person, place, thing, or idea. **EXAMPLES:** dog, cat, teachers, apple, Mary, suddenly. **Adverb:** An adverb tells us how, when, or where. It can describe a verb, an adjective, or another adverb. **EXAMPLES:** loudly, always, never, later, soon. **Verb:** A verb is a word or a group of words that describe an action, experience, or state of being. **EXAMPLES:** realize, walk, see, look, sing, sit, list...
