Conflicts of political origin Political conflicts are generally of four types: - Territorial conflicts between bordering countries. They are caused by disagreement over the division of land or maritime borders; by the claim to a border region annexed or by the desire to control strategic territories. Nationalist conflicts. These occur when a human group want separation or independence from an established country. Sometimes these conflicts also have ethnic or religious causes. Political-ideological and ethnic conflicts. They result from the desire to maintain or change political regimes and to defend or impose beliefs, religious extremism, or ethnicity. + Conflicts to maintain hegemony or prestige. They are interventions in other countries to ensure the security or dominance of a powerful country. Conflicts of economic origin These are conflicts which primarily with the pursuit of control over economic resources.
