â˘Occlusion Articulator Records Representation of the maxilla, mandible, and TMJ can be non-adjustable, semi-adjustable, or fully adjustable. A facebow record captures the relationship of the maxilla to the skull and the mandible to the TMJ's rotational center. An interocclusal record records the relationship between maxillary and mandibular teeth. â˘Centric relation and Maximum intercuspation Centric relation is the position where the condyles are most anterior and superior against the articular eminence, independent of the teeth. Maximum intercuspation, or centric occlusion, occurs when teeth are fully interdigitated, not dependent on the condyles. â˘Guidance Types Condylar guidance involves mandibular guidance during protrusion, with the condyle sliding against the articular eminence. Incisal guidance, part of anterior guidance, involves the incisal edges of mandibular anterior teeth guided by the lingual surfaces of maxillary anterior teeth during protrusion. â˘Guidance Components Canine guidance occurs during lateral movements, where upper and lower canines contact on the working side, discluding posterior teeth on the non-working side.
