Mechanics:
What does the study of kinematics focus on?
Apuntes
Mechanics: study of motion. Kinematics: study of how things move Distance: how far an object moves during a time interval. Displacement: a vector quantity that describes the change of position. Formula: x= xf - xi Scalar:any quantity that consists of magnitude or size only. Vector: have both magnitude and directions. Speed: is the distance traveled in an amount of time. S= d/t, S= m/s where m= d and s=t Velocity: rate at which objects position changes. V= x/t Acceleration: change of velocity in a given amount of time. A= v/t, where a=m/s2 Law of Newton • Law of inertia: objects at rest remains, objects in motion continue in straight line at a constant velocity unless is acted by a external force 1N=kg* m/s2 gravity= 9.8 m/s2 W= m*g • Law of acceleration: the acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the net force acting on the object and is inversely proportional to the mass. a=f/m, F=m*a • Law of action-reaction: for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction force.
