DEFUELING Before proceding with the defueling of an aircraft, consult the maintenance manual (AMM) for specific procedures and precautions. Fuel defueling may be performed by gravity or pumping fuel for the tanks. When using the gravity method, an appropiate collecting the fuel must be provided. When using the pumping method, care must be taken not to damage the tanks, and the extrated fuel must not be mixed with fresh fuel. General precautions when defueling are: the aircraft and the defueling elements. • Switch off all electrical and electronic equipment. • Have the correct type fire extinguisher available • Wear eye protection.SPRINGSIn general, springs require little maintenance. Those located in exposed areas may corrode over time, and those installed in high temperature areas may lose their temper if overheated, resulting in a loss of the required mechancal properties to properly perform the function for wich they were designed. • Corrosion: occurs in state springs and reduces the load-carrying capacity of the spring. • Overheating: Evidenced by blistering of the surface protection and a change in color due to loss of temper. • Fatigue: must be verified by recorded d...
