Treaty of Versailles The Treaty of Versailles included territorial losses for Germany, disarmament, war guilt clause and to pay extensive war reparations. This brought to Germany moral (people felt humiliated and that it wasn’t just as all people blamed themself). Also, led to an hyperinflation and political problems (right extremist groups - nationalists - and left wing (communists): Spartacist uprising - failed. Right wing (nationalists): Kapp Putsch - failed). During the early years of the Weimar Republic, Germany was threatened by both the left and the right. On the left wing, the main group was the Spartacists, a communist movement led by Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg. Their aim was a Germany ruled by workers and councils, similar to Soviet Russia. They were supported by workers, socialists and communists. Their methods included strikes, uprisings and revolts, which were often very violent. They were defeated by the Freikorps, the police and the army. One consequence was the bitterness between communists and socialists. On the right wing, the key groups were the Freikorps and the Nazis.
