His academic and personal writings were the main sources of discussion. The central argument is that these different contexts demand different positions regarding the problem of the relationship between historiography and subjectivity. Even so, there is an apparent equivalence between the historian’s political engagement and his professional activities. Key words: Marc Bloch; ethics for historians; subjectivity.
