Discovering the Basics • Describing Agile and Scrum 101 ▪ Definition of agile o Marked by ready ability to move with quick easy grace: an agile dancer o Having a quick resourceful and adaptable character: an agile mind ▪ Agile doesn't mean nor imply quicker, cheaper, or shorter than other options, but to be able to take the right decisions and to adapt based on your learning and the current needs. It's about constant learning in terms of what's needed and the way of working within the team. This leads to higher efficiency over time. ▪ Agile is building on principle of Lean: o Customer Orientation o Value stream identification o Flow principle o Pull principle o Continuous improvement ▪ Before Agile: In 1943, long before Agile became widely known, the Skunk Works team at Lockheed applied early Agile principles during the urgent development of the P-80 jet to counter Germany’s Me-262. Led by Kelly Johnson, the team gathered all key personnel—technicians, engineers, and pilots—into a focused, isolated workspace (a tent).
