Categories for the Analysis of Geographic Space Place, Landscape, Region and Territory To study geographic space, geographers use categories. These help us organize information and better understand the places on Earth. Place It is a space that can be found by its name or by its coordinates on a map or GPS. It is the place closest to our daily life. Example: The center of Tokyo, Japan, has coordinates 35.6595° N, 139.7005° E that allow us to locate it on a map or a globe.
