Medical assistants aren’t expected to know and memorize all of them. Experience will bring familiarity with common diseases and disorders. These are a few of the most common diseases and disorders arranged by body system. Condi�ons of the Integumentary System DISEASE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS ETIOLOGY DIAGNOSIS TREATMENT Celluli�s Skin of the affected area is swollen, red, and hot to the touch. Bacteria (typically Streptococcus or Staphylococcus) enters the skin through cuts or abrasions and causes infec�on of connec�ve �ssue with severe inflamma�on of the skin. Physical exam Wound culture and blood tests can confirm bacterial e�ology. Res�ng the area, cu�ng away dead �ssue if needed, an�bio�cs Derma��s Red, itchy rash that may include blisters or oily scales Allergic reac�on to a specific allergen leading to inflamma�on of a region of the skin Physical examina�on Moisturizers Steroid creams Eczema Red, itchy skin Vesicular lesions (blisters) that may...
