LEADERSHIP STYLES • Autocratic Leadership The leader makes decisions alone without consulting employees. Communication is one-way, from leader to workers. It allows fast decision-making and strong control, but it may reduce employee motivation and creativity. • Democratic Leadership The leader involves employees in decision-making. Team members share ideas before a final decision is made. This style improves motivation, commitment, and creativity, but decisions may take longer. • Laissez-faire Leadership The leader gives employees freedom to make their own decisions and provides minimal supervision. It works well with highly skilled and self-motivated teams, but it can lead to lack of direction if employees are inexperienced. • Paternalistic Leadership The leader makes decisions in what they believe is the employees’ best interest. Workers are expected to be loyal in return. It can build trust, but it may limit independence. • Situational Leadership The leader changes leadership style depending on the situation and employee competence.
