When I met Reagan, I was about to faint for the second time i n m y life. The first time was i n fifth grade, when Mom, Dad, and I had driven to the Florida State Fair. It had cotton candy, and neon lights, and cartoon drawings of Florida that looked alarmingly like guns-but most important was the Ferris wheel. I was thrilled to ride it, until we got to the top. "Look a t all the lights," Mom said, pointing to the fair beneath us. I peeked out o f our cart, and there below us was the biggest carnival I'd ever been to. Except, from that high, it didn't look big at all. Actually, it looked kind o f small. And I had the weirdest feeling that I still can't really explain. Like I was some monster giant, and the whole world had shrunk beneath me. Like, one wrong step and I'd crush everything. My breath quickened, and my palms got sweaty, and I was honestly pretty used to those things, because I got scared kind of a lot. But this time was worse. This time I was looking 5 6 at the world and realizing it was s o much different than I'd thought. I couldn't breathe.
