It is the sum of active population (AP) and inactive population (IP) PLF=AP+IP *For the years before 2002, you have to take into account the population counted separately (PCS, males who are engaged in compulsory military service or a civilian alternative service) PLF=AP+IP+PCS LABOUR MARKET INDICATORS Active population, labour force or labour supply (AP) Any person aged 16 years and over who furnish the supply of labour for the production of goods and services or who are available and are taking steps to join said production process.
