What is the form of the Past Simple tense for regular verbs?

🕒 1. Past Simple Form: 👉 Subject + verb (past form) Regular verbs: add -ed (e.g., walk → walked) Irregular verbs: change form (e.g., go → went, have → had) Examples: I watched a movie yesterday. She went to school early. They didn’t play football last weekend. Did you see Tom yesterday? Use: ✅ To talk about finished actions in the past. ✅ To describe a sequence of events. Examples: I woke up, had breakfast, and left for work. He lived in Paris for two years. ⏳ 2. Past Continuous Form: 👉 Subject + was/were + verb-ing Examples: I was reading when you called. They were playing football at 5 p.m. She wasn’t listening to the teacher. Were you watching TV at that time? Use: ✅ To describe an action in progress at a specific time in the past. ✅ To show that a longer action was interrupted by a shorter one (often in the past simple). ✅ To set the scene or background in a story. Examples: I was cooking dinner when the phone rang. It was raining, and people were running for cover. They were studying at 8 p.m. yesterday.
