History - Final Test - Contents Page 56 - Hitlers Plans Between 1918 and 1933, Hitler stepped down from being an obscure member of the German army to become the all powerful Fuhrer (dictator of Germany). Adolf was never secretive about his plans, in 1925 he wrote a book “Mein Kampf” that said what he would do if the Nazis achieved power. ● Abolish the Treaty of Versailles: Hitler believed that it was unjust. He hated it. The treaty was constantly reminding the Germans that they were defeated and they were humiliated by the Allies. Hitler promised to reverse it. When he came to power, some terms like reparations had already changed, but most points were still in place. ● Expand German territory: The ToV had taken away territory from Germany, and Hitler wanted back again. To unite with Austria, minorities to rejoin them and to create an empire in the East. ● Defeat communism: He was anticommunist. He believed they had helped the Allies in WW1 and also that communist wanted to take over them.
