La cavidad bucal comprende una serie de estructuras que incluyen la lengua, los dientes y sus medios de sostĂ©n (periodonto),las glĂĄndulas salivales mayores y menores y las amĂgdalas. Las glĂĄndulas salivales mayores: es una estructura par; estas glĂĄndulas son las siguientes: parĂłtida, sublingual y submandibular. Las glĂĄndulas salivales menores se encuentran en la submucosa de la cavidad bucal. Las amĂgdalas: son acumulaciones de nĂłdulos linfĂĄticos que se congregan alrededor del istmo de las fauces, en la orofaringe y en la nasofaringe. LA CAVIDAD BUCAL ESTĂ TAPIZADA POR UNA MUCOSA MASTICATORIA, UNA MUCOSA DE REVESTIMIENTO Y UNA MUCOSA ESPECIALIZADA. -MUCOSA MASTICATORIA: SE ENCUENTRA EN LAS ENCĂAS Y EL PALADAR DURO, POSEE UN EPITELIO ESTRATIFICADO PLANO CORNIFICADO Y EN ALGUNAS REGIONES PARACORNIFICADO. -MUCOSA DE REVESTIMIENTO: SE ENCUENTRA EN LOS LABIOS, LAS MEJILLAS, LA SUPERFICIE MUCOSA ALVEOLAR, EL PISO DE LA BOCA, LA SUPERFICIE VENTRAL DE LA LENGUA Y EL PALADAR BLANDO.
