• Subtopic: Elements Analyzed in Climate Study In order to study the climate, four main elements are analyzed: temperature, precipitation, atmospheric pressure, and wind. • Subtopic: Temperature and Latitude Temperature is the amount of heat contained in the air. It is measured with a thermometer and is usually expressed in degrees Celsius (°C). Temperatures vary from place to place, depending on several factors: latitude, altitude, and distance from the sea. Latitude significantly influences temperatures. They are highest at the Equator and decrease progressively as we move from the Equator towards the poles in both hemispheres. • Subtopic: Distribution of Solar Rays and Climate Zones In the area near the Equator, the Sun's rays reach a relatively small area of Earth at right angles, warming the surface significantly. Conversely, the Sun's rays reach Earth obliquely between the tropics and the poles. As a result, the Sun's energy is distributed over a larger area, which warms up less. For this reason, the Earth is divided into five climate zones according to latitude: one hot zone, two temperate zones, and two cold zones. (8) The Earth's climate zones
