What is physics?
Apuntes
• What is Physics? Physics is the branch of science concerned with the nature and properties of matter and energy. It involves understanding the fundamental principles that govern the universe, from the smallest particles to the largest galaxies. • Branches of Physics The main branches of physics include classical physics, quantum physics, thermodynamics, electromagnetism, and relativity. Each branch focuses on different aspects of physical phenomena and employs specific theories and methods. • SI Units The International System of Units (SI) is the standard measurement system used in science. It includes units such as the meter (m) for length, kilogram (kg) for mass, second (s) for time, ampere (A) for electric current, kelvin (K) for temperature, mole (mol) for amount of substance, and candela (cd) for luminous intensity. • SI Prefixes SI prefixes are used to denote multiples or fractions of SI units. Examples include kilo- (k, 10^3), centi- (c, 10^-2), milli- (m, 10^-3), micro- (μ, 10^-6), and mega- (M, 10^6). • Scientific Method The scientific method involves observing phenomena, forming hypotheses, conducting experiments, analyzing data, and drawing conclusio...
