The duchy offers a hefty bounty to whoever captures it first—with no further guidance. At dawn: • Tibbin sees the Silver-Tail sprinting across a meadow. He immediately gives chase, blowing his hunting horn and swinging a small net. • Hearing the commotion, Grubnark barrels in from the opposite side. He didn’t see the fox first, but recognized the opportunity. • As Tibbin closes within a few yards, the fox darts into a thicket. Tibbin follows, exhausted but persistent. • Zelvir the elf, out gathering herbs nearby, sees the fox momentarily wedged between two boulders and snaps an enchanted rope around it. • Moments later, Grubnark charges in, yanks the rope (and the fox) from Zelvir’s hands, but loses control when the fox thrashes free. • The fox bolts again—straight into Grothom the wizard, who calmly casts a brief containment spell, lifts the immobilized fox, and announces, “Well, that was easy.” All four run to the magistrate.
