What does it mean that intelligence is independent of the substrate?

When we think about intelligence we think about feelings, emotions, the heart, the brain, but it doesn’t need thoughts or a body to be intelligent. In summary, intelligence is independent of the substrate. What does that mean? Well, imagine you write your memoirs in a paper diary and then decide to transfer everything to a Word document, okay? And then print it on a sheet of paper. Have your memoirs changed? Have your thoughts changed? No, they’re still the same. What’s happened is that they’re in a different format. That’s what I mean when I say that intelligence, and in this case artificial intelligence, is independent of the substrate.
