WHO IS JESSICA NABONGO? Here you can see Jessica Nabongo. She is an American traveller with Ugandan roots. She is also a blogger and photographer. In 2019, she became one of the first Black women to visit every country in the world — 195 countries. Her achievement is important because it shows representation in travel. She inspires people, especially women and people from different cultural backgrounds, to explore the world. HER JOURNEY In these pictures, you can see different types of transport and a beach in Seychelles. Jessica started her goal in 2017 and finished in 2019 in Seychelles. She travelled mostly by plane, but also by train, car and boat. It took her about two years. She once said: “I travel to connect with people.” This means that for her, travelling is not about competition. It is about learning from cultures and meeting people from different countries. COMPARISON TO PHILEAS FOGG Here we see an illustration of Phileas Fogg. He is a fictional character from the novel Around the World in Eighty Days. If we compare both travellers, we see big differences. Jessica travelled to follow her dream. Fogg travelled to win a bet. Jessica took two years. Fogg took only 80 days....
