Placing reinforcing bars Cap #1: introduction Topic: occupations - Architect: Prepares the drawings that determine the general design and form of buildings. On bridges, water and wastewater treatment plants and other heavy construction, these functions are usually performed by an Engineer, particularly where architectural features are not the main consideration. - Concrete Subcontractor: Builds the complete concrete structure under contract to the General Contractor. - Detailer: Prepares placing drawings and bar lists from structural drawings. The bar lists are used to fabricate the reinforcing bars in the shop and as a checklist in the field. - Engineer: Prepares the structural design. This includes determining the type of structural frame to be built; the designing of all reinforced concrete members; establishing the size, arrangements and location of all reinforcement; and preparing details and drawings of the structural work. - Fabricator: Supplies reinforcing bars fabricated, bundled, tagged and delivered to the jobsite.
