Ex .: Lucas and Maxine ARE in love. 2. Subject multiple singular nouns joined by “or”, subject is singular. Ex.: penne or rigatoni works fine for the recipe. Subject multiple plural nouns joined by “or”, subject is plural. Ex.: cats and dogs make good friends. Subject combination of plural and singular nouns , verb follows the number of the last noun. Ex.: the teacher or the students have to inform the principal The students or the teacher has to inform the principal 3. When collective nouns act together singular subject The team goes to practice at 4. When collective nouns act separately plural subject The team go to their own homes after practice. 4.
