•Definition The American Dream is the belief that everyone, regardless of background, can achieve success and a better life through hard work and determination. It suggests that "life could be better for each according to ability," and that every man and woman should be able to develop their personality and become nobleworthy, regardless of their family’s social position or country of birth. "If you work hard, you'll make it." (prosperity, freedom, equal rights for everyone) Each person is responsible for their own life. •History / Important Aspects "Americans are born with unalienable rights to 'life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.'"
