HISTORICAL BACKGROUND During the Tudors dynasty, England went through a great transformation. In fact it passed from a Medieval country to a Modern one thanks to several events: - The growth of a powerful central government: The tudors reduced the power of feudal lords and made the monarchy the main force of the country - The break with Rome: under Henry VIII the England Church was separated from the authority of pope and the Catholic Roman church. This event marked the beginning of protestantism inside the English territory - The rediscovery of America and the great geographical explorations that opened new trade routes and encouraged many people to improve their knowledge through having a spirit of adventure, curiosity and progress WAR OF THE ROSES The war of the Roses is a civil war, that began in 1455 and ended in 1485, fought between two rival families: The house of York, whose symbol was a white rose, and the house of Lancaster, whose symbol was a red rose.
